NEW YORK - Pawnshop operator and cash advance provider Cash America International Inc. said it has named the chief operating officer and executive vice president of its retail services division, Dennis J. Weese, as the segment's new president. He will keep his position as COO.

His new role will include overseeing and managing the company's storefront operations, and particularly its pawn, cash advance and check cashing store locations.
The former president of the division, Jerry Wackerhagen, left the company on June 30. The reason for the departure was not disclosed in a statement late Thursday.
"The opportunity to consolidate two senior management roles into one will enable us to manage the day-to-day operations of our store base more efficiently," said Cash America President and Chief Executive Daniel R. Feehan.
Before joining the Fort Worth, Texas, company in September 2007, Weese oversaw operations of On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina for restaurant operator Brinker International.
Shares of Cash America stock rose 64 cents in morning trading to $32.74.
