HealthSouth buying 30-bed rehabilitation unit

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Rehabilitation and acute care hospital operator HealthSouth Corp. said Monday it will buy a 30-bed rehabilitation unit at the Medical Center of Arlington in Texas for an undisclosed amount.

The unit is currently owned by Columbia Medical Center of Arlington Subsidiary LP. After the buyout, the unit will relocate to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington.

"The Medical Center of Arlington has provided exceptional rehabilitative care to patients in this community for many years and we look forward to continuing this tradition," said HealthSouth President and Chief Executive Jay Grinney, in a statement.

The deal is expected to close during the third quarter.

Shares of HealthSouth closed unchanged at $16.31.
