NEW YORK - Shares of biotechnology companies opened mixed Monday following the long holiday weekend, while the broader market gained ground as oil fell more than $5 a barrel. Early in the session, the Dow Jones Industrial average was up nearly 100 points.
Here's how several key biotechnology stocks performed early Monday:
Gilead Sciences Inc., up 22 cents at $51.31.
Amgen Inc., up 5 cents to $50.89.
Biogen Idec Inc., up 28 cents to $58.48.
Genentech Inc., down $1.60, or 2.1 percent, to $76.36.
