Cummins boosts quarterly dividend to 17.5 cents

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. on Tuesday said its board increased its quarterly common stock cash dividend to 17.5 cents.

The new dividend represents a 40 percent increase. It was previously 12.5 cents. The dividend will be paid on Sept. 2 to shareholders of record as of Aug. 22.

The dividend increase is Cummins' third since July 2006.

Cummins shares rose 33 cents to $64.39 in afternoon trading.
