Del Toro said they will make some rules and contests so fans have a good chance to be on the films, according to an interview published on Monday on MTV's Movies Blog,

"Go and apply for those roles." Del Toro said according to the interview which was also recorded in video.

The announcement came out as Del Toro was asked who should fans kill or sleep with, to get a place as an extra.

He joked saying "Sleep with a lot of people if you can! That's a very good piece of advice. But don't bribe anyone. It will be wasted money," del Toro said, laughing.

Del Toro will direct "The Hobbit" and its sequel which will be filmed in New Zealand. According to MGM studios, the first film will tentatively be released on 2010 and its sequel in 2011. Peter Jackson, who directed all "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy will be the Executive Producer.
