Construction on the wind farms, located on farmland in northern and western New York, began last month. The wind farms are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, and will be built and operated by Essex, Conn.-based Noble Environmental Power.

They will generate a combined 330 megawatts of energy--enough to power about 110,000 homes, GE said.

Including the latest investment, GE Energy Financial Services has invested or agreed to invest in 76 wind farms, with a total capacity of more than 4,000 megawatts.

GE said the three farms, when completed, will boost the state's wind producing capacity by 47 percent.
