NEW YORK - Major beverage stocks closed mostly down Thursday as concerns over the health of consumer spending weighed on the companies.
In industry news, Lehman Brothers analyst Michael Branca reduced his earnings estimates for Coca-Cola Co., citing slowing beverage markets in the U.S., Western Europe and developing countries.
How shares of some major beverage makers performed:
Anheuser-Busch Cos. fell 9 cents to close at $61.21.
Molson Coors Brewing Co. lost 21 cents to $53.10.
Coca-Cola Co. fell 85 cents to $50.04, after hitting an annual low of $49.70.
Bucking the trend, PepsiCo Inc. added 24 cents to $65.59.
