Chindex gets contracts worth $17 million

BETHESDA, Md. - Chindex International Inc., which makes tumor therapy and in-vitro diagnostic equipment, said Friday that it signed contracts worth 10.8 million euros ($17 million) to supply laboratory and hospital products to Centers for Disease Control in China's Gansu and Inner Mongolia provinces.

Shipments under the two contracts are expected to begin by the end of the year.

Chindex is continuing to bid for several other government-sponsored loan projects, which the company sees as its primary method of maintaining profitability.

Shares fell 8 cents to close at $15.87.
