NEW YORK - Shares of electrical equipment companies closed mostly lower as the broader market trimmed heavy intraday losses after the Federal Reserve said it may allow mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to borrow money from the central bank if necessary.
Here's how some electrical equipment companies fared:
Avnet Inc., down 21 cents to $25.50.
Emerson Electric Co., down 49 cents to $49.29.
Thomas & Betts Corp., down 5 cents to $34.05.
Amphenol Corp., down 18 cents to $45.21.
