NEW YORK - Shares of insurers fell Friday along with the broader market amid continuing concern about the financial stability of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

MBIA Inc. declined 30 cents, or 7.1 percent, to $3.90.

MGIC Investment Corp. fell $1.03, or 19.9 percent, to $4.15.

American International Group Inc. declined 91 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $23.08.

XL Capital Ltd. lost $1.28, or 7.3 percent, to $16.25.
