NEW YORK - Health care equipment and supply stocks opened mixed Friday as the broader markets fell on troubles at mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and a rebound in oil prices.
How shares of some major health care equipment and supply companies fared shortly after the opening bell:
Covidien Ltd. rose 24 cents to $49.20.
Baxter International Inc. fell 37 cents to $64.93.
Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose 6 cents to $49.51.
Stryker Corp. rose 10 cents to $66.01.
