NEW YORK - Shares of machinery companies fell in early trading Friday, as the overall market tumbled on troubles at mortgage companies and more record oil prices.
The Dow Jones industrials fell more than 170 points and neared the 11,000 mark for the first time in two years.
Here's how some machinery stocks fared in morning trading:
Manitowoc Co., down $1.04, or 3.8 percent, to $26.22.
Terex Corp., up 9 cents to $43.55.
Cummins Inc., down $1.46, or 2.2 percent, to $64.64.
Caterpillar Inc., down 10 cents at $68.32.
Deere & Co., down $1.35, or 2.1 percent, at $64.49.
