FRANKFURT, Germany - Dialysis products maker Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA saw its net profit increase by 17 percent in the second quarter, according to preliminary figures released Thursday.

The Bad Homburg-based company said net earnings rose to $209 million, while revenue came in at $2.67 billion--an 11 percent increase.
Earnings before interest and taxes in the April-June period rose by 9 percent to $428 million.
Over the first half of the year, Fresenius saw revenue increase by 10 percent to $5.18 billion. Net profit for the January-June period rose by 17 percent to $395 million.
Fresenius said first-half revenue at its infusion therapy and clinical nutrition unit, Kabi, grew by 14 percent. Its Helios in- and outpatient care unit saw growth of 17 percent, while revenue at the Vamed hospital development and construction division rose by 11 percent.
The company will report final second-quarter and first-half earnings figures on July 30.
Fresenius shares lost 4.4 percent to 33.66 euros ($53.50) in Frankfurt.
