Powell, 67, will retire effective Sept. 30, which is the end of the company's current fiscal year.
At that time, McDonald, 55, who currently serves as president and chief operating officer will take Powell's place. Powell will continue to serve as non-executive chairman.
McDonald joined the company in 2006 as general manager of the company's electrical power products business. He also joined the company's board of directors in May.
The management changes were announced previously in 2007, Powell said.
