Rockwood Holdings buys France's Holliday Pigments

PRINCETON, N.J. - Chemicals and advanced materials company Rockwood Holdings Inc. said on Monday it has reached an agreement to buy Holliday Pigments, which makes ultramarine and manganese violet pigments, from Yule Catto & Co. PLC for 46 million euros ($72.9 million).

After the transcaction closes--expected in the third quarter--Holliday Pigments' manufacturing facility and headquarters in Comines, France, will become part of Rockwood Color Pigments. The pigments are used for plastics, cosmetics, coatings and inks.

Rockwood Holdings shares rose 48 cents to $37.95 in late morning trading.
