MINNEAPOLIS - Ampal-American Israel Corp. said on Tuesday that a subsidiary is offering to buy all the shares and convertible debentures of Gadot Chemical Tankers and Terminals Ltd.

Ampal's Merhav-Ampal Energy Ltd. already owns 79.3 percent of the shares of Gadot, which distributes liquid chemicals, oils, and other materials in Israel.
Ampal said it was offering 5.798 Israeli shekels ($1.69) per share and 1.642 Israeli shekels (47.8 cents) for the convertible debentures. The offer runs through Aug. 5.
Ampal is a conglomerate that buys businesses in Israel, with a focus on the energy sector.
Shares of Ampal rose 36 cents, or 6.7 percent, to $5.75 in afternoon trading.
