Miley Cyrus' album "breakout" was released today.
On the previous millions of albums she sold there has always been the moniker "Hannah Montana" as in the 2006 album "Hannah Montana" and 2007's "Hannah Montana: Meet Miley Cyrus".
This time, however, "Breakout " appears today under the name Miley Cyrus.
The sound is more mature on this CD, as it aims at an older audience.
The first single of the CD entitled "7 Things," is No. 7 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
"To be played on these radio stations is awesome, to be able to rock out to it in your car without planning it, without it being just a kids' channel," said Cyrus, according to the Associated Press.
"(I'm) making it a little more fun and edgy, and I think being able to step out of the 'Hannah Montana' thing - not in a way where I'm forgetting her completely, but as my fans grow up, me growing up too and kind of having my own person."
Cyrus explains why her new album is free of her alter-ego.
"I wanted to show that I am a true artist," she told E! News. "And the reason I titled it Breakout was because, as the age demographic grows, because as I grow, they grow. I want to embrace the older audience, and I feel like this is a good breakout way of doing that."
Next year Cyrus will star in a "Hannah Montana" movie.
Also the DVD of the blockbuster "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds" tour, which will be released later this summer, is anticipated to reach the top of the charts.
