FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Home prices have declined 0.3% from April to May in the United States, in a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the latest survey published by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.

Year on year, house prices have posted a 4.8% decline, 4.9% since they peaked in April 2007, according to the OFHEO. Down to regions, prices have increased 0.3% on the Pacific Area, 0.1% un the East North Central, and the Atlantic region, while they remained flat in the West North Central.

According to James B. Lockhart, director of the OFHEO, these figures could anticipate better times: "It is very hard to draw conclusions from a one-month number, especially in these uncertain times; but the numbers in the Pacific, East and West North Central Divisions may be good signs."
