NEW YORK - Senator John McCain said on Wednesday he has not made a final decision on who will share the Republican ticket to be his running mate in the presidential elections.
Speaking on Fox's Sean Hannity show, the Republican candidate said that he is looking for someone who shared his priorities.
"One of the toughest decisions the president makes is setting priorities," McCain said, "and so, that has to be those obviously important characteristics. And one of them of course is, someone who can take your place immediately. McCain then joked about his age, "That's maybe the advice almost even more important in my case."
Speculation was rife over the possibility that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal would be elected after a closed door meeting with McCain on Tuesday.
"I'm not going to be the vice presidential nominee or vice president," Jindal told Fox News. "I'm going to help Sen. McCain get elected as governor of Louisiana."
"Let me be clear: I have said in every private and public conversation, I've got the job that I want," Jindal said.
Sources in the McCain campaign confirmed to CNN that recent discussions have been held and there is high possibly that the campaign may announce a running mate this week. If so, that would change the subject from Obama's trip to the Middle East and Europe.
