US initial jobless claims increase above expectations in Jul 19 week
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Employment offices in the United States have registered a larger than expected increase in the total volume of laid-off workers applying for their jobless benefits for their first time, according to data released by the US Department of Labor.
The seasonally adjusted volume of initial jobless claims has increased by 34K to a total amount of 406,000 in the week of July 19th, from the upwardly revised 372,000 total volume of claims in the previous week. Analysts expected a considerably softer increase to 380,000. The four week moving average has risen by 4,500 to 382,500.
The volume of continuing claims has decreased by 9K to 3,107,000, while the four week moving average shows a decrease by 7,000 to 3,134,250.
