"If they had been conceived through IVF, we would have been happy to discuss it. But we have been fortunate never to have had fertility problems," Jolie to People magazine, in an interview published Monday.

The August 4 issue also includes the first published photos of the newborns. People paid part of a $14 million fee to secure the U.S. rights to the first interview and photos.

Both, Jolie and Pitt commented in the interview they were surprised when realizing they were having twins.

"We were in shock and could not stop laughing" said Angelina according to People. "We were on hystericsWe did not see this one coming," added Pitt who shared his grandparents and "sis" both had twins.

On July 25, Us Magazine reported -quoting an unidentified "well-placed source within the camp, "- that the couple had gone through In Vitro fertilization so Angelina wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant since at her age the probabilities to become pregnant with twins was lower.

Twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt were born on July 12. Their photos were published in People and Hello! Magazines for the first time today. The magazines dedicated 19 and 17 pages respectively to the Jolie-Pitt family which also includes adopted sons Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and biological child, Shiloh, 2.

The interview also reveals how the Hollywood actors are dealing with the new big family which they confessed was something both wanted.

"Wanting a big family is one of the things that brought us together," said Jolie.

"Always said if I were to do it, I'd do it big," added Pitt.
