Actor Morgan Freeman, who was in a serious condition after being involved in a car accident on Sunday, is in "good spirits" and says he will recover, his publicist said.

The actor, who is recovering in a Memphis, Tenn. hospital, was driving a Nissan Maxima in Mississippi when the car left the road and flipped several times, according to reports. Freeman resulted with a broken arm, a broken elbow and minor shoulder damage.
"He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage. He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery," said Freeman's publicist and sister in law Donna Lee in a statement yesterday.
A woman identified as Demaris Meyer was traveling with him, but her medical status is not known, according to the Associated Press.
A Mississippi Highway patrol spokesman, Sgt. Ben Williams, said the actor possibly fell asleep while driving and discarded involvement of alcohol and drugs, AP reported yesterday.
Morgan Freeman belongs to the cast of the Batman Begin's sequel "The Dark Knight" along with Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine, among others.The movie has broken several records at the U.S. Box Office, surpassing the $300 Million mark in ten days. The movie has topped the biggest ticket sales domestically during the past three weekends.
Freeman won an Oscar Award for Best Supporting actor on the film "Million Dollar Baby" in 2005.
