The actor, who is recovering in a Memphis, Tenn. hospital, was driving a Nissan Maxima in Mississippi when the car left the road and flipped several times, according to reports. Freeman resulted with a broken arm, a broken elbow and minor shoulder damage.
"He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage. He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery," said Freeman's publicist and sister in law Donna Lee in a statement yesterday.
A woman identified as Demaris Meyer was traveling with him, but her medical status is not known, according to the Associated Press.
A Mississippi Highway patrol spokesman, Sgt. Ben Williams, said the actor possibly fell asleep while driving and discarded involvement of alcohol and drugs, AP reported yesterday.
