Gerber Scientific reaffirms fiscal 2009 guidance

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. - Gerber Scientific Inc., which makes equipment to create signs and specialty graphics, on Wednesday reaffirmed its guidance for fiscal 2009 profit between 72 cents and 82 cents per share.

Gerber Scientific, lowered its revenue guidance for the fiscal year ending April 30 by $30 million, saying it expects revenue in the range of $660 million to $690 million, a 3 percent to 8 percent increase from fiscal 2008.

The company on Wednesday also said it will cut 135 positions, or 6 percent of its global work force, because of falling demand for some of its products.

Gerber Scientific shares fell $1.54, or 13.8 percent, to $9.63 in morning trading. The stock has ranged from $7.56 to $12.64 over the past year.
