SAN FRANCISCO - Clay Aiken, the former "American Idol," announced the birth of his son to "dear friend" Jaymes Foster" on Friday.
Aiken, 29, wrote on his Web site that his child was born in North Carolina.
"My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken," he said.
Parker is "healthy, happy and as loud as his daddy," Aiken said. Foster "is doing quite well," added the singer.
In 2003, Aiken was a runner-up on the second season of "American Idol."
Aiken is currently on Broadway in the musical "Monty Python's Spamalot." He began his run on the show in January.
