David Beckham, Leona Lewis to close Olympics

NEW YORK - David Beckham will represent London at the Olympics closing ceremony in Beijing, alongside British sensation singer, Leona Lewis.

Leona and the Los Angeles Galaxy star will be featured in a "handover performance," in which the 2012 Olympics Games are officially passed on to London.

"He was very involved in the London bid to get it, and as a Londoner he is incredibly proud that the Olympics will be in London," a source told People.

"He is passionate about it and looking forward to the games in 2012."

Leona, 23, won X Factor, a singing contest in 2006, which shot her to fame with her single titled Bleeding Love. She will sing a duet with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page for the event, which will be screened live to a television audience of as many as 150 million people.

The closing ceremony takes place August 24.

London mayor Boris Johnson will also attend and will be handed the Olympic host flag from Jacques Rogge, chairman of the International Olympic Committee, according to the UK Telegraph.
