CINCINNATI - Convergys Corp. announced Tuesday the election of Ronald L. Nelson, the chief executive of Avis Budget Group Inc., to the Convergys board of directors.
Cincinnati-based Convergys, which provides business outsourcing services, said Nelson's financial experience will be valuable to the company during a challenging time for that business.
Nelson was elected by a vote of the Convergys board; his appointment was effective Aug. 15. He is replacing Sidney Ribeau, who resigned. Ribeau, who has been president of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, recently was named president of Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Nelson, 56, was president, chief financial officer and a director of Cendant Corp. before becoming chairman and CEO of Avis Budget, which is the successor company to Cendant following the spinoffs of Cendant's real estate and hospitality operations.
Convergys shares declined 26 cents, to $14.09 in trading Tuesday.
