Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis and Beyonce among 15 Female vocalists to Sing for Cancer Fundraising

NEW YORK - Over a dozen of famous female singers including Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus will join their voices for a single in a gesture to support the Stand Up To Cancer fundraising event in September.

The song which is called "Just Stand Up" will be released on the radio and will be on sale exclusively on iTunes store starting from September 2. The event Stand Up To Cancer will be broadcasted by ABC, CBS and NBC television networks simultaneously.

Carey, Beyonce, Cyrus, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie Underwood will participate in the single record, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The artists will also perform live at the one-hour fundraising on Friday, September 5 at 8pm EDT.

The song was conceived by Antonio "L.A." Reid, Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group after a meeting with the women organizers of Stand Up To Cancer. L.A. is also producer of the song together with Kenny 'Babyface" Edmonds.

The Stand Up To Cancer campaign began last year and is a collaboration that unites major television networks with executives from the entertainment industry, celebrities and leaders in cancer research. Together, they gather funds that will help develop new treatments for cancer, the American Association for Cancer Research notes on its website.

A large number of celebrities are confirmed for the event, including Jennifer Aniston, Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, David Cook, Fran Drescher, Meryl Streep, Kirsten Dunst, Elizabeth Edwards, Jon Favreau, America Ferrera, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Danica Patrick, Christina Ricci, Robin Roberts, Hilary Swank and Charlize Theron.

According to the press release, the celebrities will make personal appearances and answer phone calls from donors at the event.

Homer Simpson and Marge Simpson are also listed on the press release.
