US dollar mostly up, gold down in European trading

LONDON - The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Friday morning. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.4843, down from $1.4877 late Thursday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_109.13 Japanese yen, up from 108.65
_1.0915 Swiss francs, up from 1.0881
_1.0450 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0456
The British pound was quoted at $1.8602, down from $1.8751.
Gold traded in London at $830.00 per troy ounce, down from $833.50 late Thursday.
