Visa shareholders as of Aug. 27 can vote on proxy

NEW YORK - Visa Inc., the world's largest credit and debit card processor, said Friday its board had set Aug. 27 as the new record date for shareholders eligible to participate in its Oct. 14 annual meeting.

The record date was previously Sept. 5.

Matters to be put to a shareholder vote include an amendment and restatement of the company's certificate of incorporation and a proposal to synchronize the terms served by board members with the company's annual meeting schedule.
