BOSTON - Orthopedic products maker Orthofix International NV said Thursday it named Brad Mason president of Blackstone Medical Inc., its spine implant and biologic subsidiary.

Mason, who was previously president of the company's sports medicine unit Berg, replaces Oliver Burckhardt who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

Mason will continue in his current role of group president, North America at Orthofix.

Shares of Netherlands-based Orthofix rose 48 cents to $25.22 in afternoon trading.
