NEW YORK - Shares of some top education companies were up at the close of trading:

Quotes

APOL	74.23	-2.61
CECO	17.76	-0.72
DV	57.48	0.11
STRA	233.89	-5.72

Apollo Group rose $.35 or .5 percent, to $64.03.

Career Education rose $.38 or 2.0 percent, to $19.13.

DeVry rose $.40 or .8 percent, to $51.98.

Strayer Education rose $3.21 or 1.5 percent, to $213.05.
