BOSTON - Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray will lead a trade mission to Ireland and Northern Island in October to strength the state's already strong ties to the region.
Murray says the mission will focus on creating economic development opportunities in the life sciences, information technology, and travel and tourism sectors.
Joining Murray on the trip will be Senate President Therese Murray, other government officials, industry leaders and representatives from higher education institutions, including the University of Massachusetts Worcester Medical School.
Total value exports from Massachusetts to Ireland have been rising since 2004, with a 55 percent growth from 2006 to 2007.
Gov. Deval Patrick headed a trade mission to China last year.
