Rap star Kanye West is set to close out the MTV Music Video Awards, a year after complaining about failing to win a single prize at the event and vowing to never again perform at the VMA's.
The musician joins a line-up including Christina Aguilera, Jonas Brothers, Rihanna and Britney Spears, who will open the show but not perform.
Kanye preformed at last years VMA ceremony where the organizers did not allow him to perform on the main stage and was relegated to a small stage in the Las Vegas venue.
The rapper also did not win a single award, in spite of being nominated in five different categories.
After last year's telecast, West was quoted as saying MTV "exploited Britney in helping to end her career," and that he felt as if he "got betrayed" by MTV by having to appear on a secondary stage.
Kanye lashed out at the music network for having Britney Spears open the show in what has become infamously known as one of the more awkward live performances by the pop princess.
This years VMA host, Russell Brand, revealed that Christina Aguilera will return this year to perform a special rendition of one of her first singles, "Genie in a Bottle," at the show's 25th anniversary. It will be Aguilera's first televised performance since the birth of her son in January.
Britney, who is nominated for three awards, said MTV had "long played an important part in my career".
"I'm excited to open the entire show, to say 'hi' to my fans and to be nominated," she added.
