The protests against the outfits caused the University's squad to order new uniforms for which they had to pay an extra $2,200, the Associated Press reported. Six inches will be added to the skirts length and it will debut on October 4. Meanwhile, cheerleaders have worn black volleyball shorts and football jerseys as their temporary garments.
On Tuesday, some opinions showed up on the web. "Idaho fans are slightly behind the times. Just a generation or two," commented ESPN college sports columnist Pat Forde on the issue today.
Shelly Robson, an adviser and fundraiser for the squad noted that even some girls of the cheering team weren't comfortable with the outfit. "Girls are just bigger these days, not everybody's a size zero," said Robson "We're not being a bunch of prudes."
Bruce Pitman, a Dean of students has said some fans liked the girl's sexy outfits. "To be fair, there were a number of fans who liked them," he said. Pitman added the clothes -now controversial- were similar to what an NFL cheerleader might wear, according to the Associated Press.
Few weeks ago, the Idaho's Vandals were also requested to withdraw the team's pants that had the University's logo printed on the back.
