WASHINGTON - The Defense Department on Thursday said it awarded a $34 million contract to a division of United Technologies Corp. for helicopters.

The contract is for three UH-60M helicopters for the Army. It was awarded to United Technologies' Sikorsky Aircraft division.

Shares of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies dropped 46 cents to close at $59.17 Thursday.
