Duke Energy spent $1.5M lobbying government in 2Q

Power generator Duke Energy Corp. spent $1.5 million in the second quarter to lobby on global warming and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based company, which has approximately 4 million electric customers primarily in the Midwest and the Carolinas, also lobbied the federal government on cap and trade, construction of power lines, renewable energy, fuel recycling, solar roofs, smart meters, low income home energy assistance and carbon capture and storage.

In the April-June period, Duke Energy lobbied the House and Senate, according to the filing on July 21.
