NEW YORK - Shares of some top oil companies were down at the close of trading:

Quotes

CVX	70.49	6.09
COP	46.84	5.04
XOM	75.81	7.3
MRO	22.52	2.94

Chevron fell $.52 or .6 percent, to $86.95.

ConocoPhillips fell $.61 or .8 percent, to $76.24.

Exxon Mobil fell $.02 or percent, to $80.65.

Marathon Oil fell $.73 or 1.8 percent, to $40.83.
