NEW YORK - Shares of some top silver companies were down at the close of trading:

HL	1.48	0.38
PAAS	12.1	2.8
SSRI	8.25	1.59
SLW	2.81	0.24

Hecla Mining fell $.24 or 4.3 percent, to $5.30.

Pan American Silver fell $.30 or 1.2 percent, to $24.11.

Silver Standard fell $1.35 or 6.6 percent, to $19.09.

Silver Wheaton fell $.69 or 7.1 percent, to $9.07.
