SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Navigation and surveying device maker Trimble Navigation Ltd. said Friday that it agreed to acquire TopoSys GmbH, a German provider of aerial data collection systems, in an all-cash deal.

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter, were not disclosed.

Typical applications for TopoSys' systems include mapping for coastline protection, floodplain control, city modeling, opencast pit mining and corridor mapping.
