Albania to build industrial parks in 2 port cities

TIRANA, Albania - The Albanian government on Monday signed two contracts worth $55.5 million to build industrial parks in port cities, creating some 22,000 jobs.

Albania company IDEA Vlora will spend $30.7 million in Vlora, and Germany's ATX International will spend $24.8 million in Shengjin.

The parks will host light industry and food plants, the Economy, Trade and Energy Ministry said in a statement.

Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe. It hopes one day to join the European Union.
