NEW YORK - Shares of some top managed care companies were down at the close of trading:

Aetna fell $3.24 or 8.4 percent, to $35.25.

CIGNA fell $3.20 or 8.8 percent, to $33.33.

Coventry Healthcare fell $2.61 or 7.6 percent, to $31.86.

Humana fell $2.00 or 4.7 percent, to $40.70.

UnitedHealth fell $4.81 or 18.6 percent, to $21.00.

WellPoint fell $2.23 or 4.8 percent, to $44.46.
