NEW YORK - Shares of some top durable goods companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Quotes

SWK	26.24	0.86
BDK	35.54	2.37
SNA	30.37	1.75
WHR	31.97	1.05

Black & Decker rose $1.45 or 2.4 percent, to $60.75.

Snap-On rose $1.28 or 2.5 percent, to $52.66.

Stanley Works rose $1.19 or 2.9 percent, to $41.74.

Whirlpool fell $3.28 or 4.0 percent, to $79.29.
