Palin, McCain Criticize "Gotcha Journalism"

Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin criticized the media for "gotcha journalism" in their first joint interview on Monday with CBS News anchor Katie Couric.

The interview heated up when Couric mentioned an issue related to terrorism. Palin said to a voter over the weekend that the U.S. should launch attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan to "stop the terrorists from coming any further in."

Her statement was similar to Barack Obama's position about terrorism on Friday at the debate.

However McCain attacked Obama for this position saying this is something he wouldn't say "out loud."

"So, Gov. Palin, are you two on the same page?" Couric asked. "[…]We will do what we have to do to secure the United States of America and her allies," Palin replied.

"Is that something you shouldn't say out loud, Sen. McCain?" Couric asked.

"Of course not," McCain replied. "But look, I understand this day and age gotcha journalism."

"What did you learn from that experience?" Couric asked to Palin.

"That this is all about Gotcha Journalism. A lot of it is! But that's ok too." Palin replied.
