RICHMOND, Va. - Mine operator James River Coal has completed a 1.5 million-share stock offering.
The Richmond-based company says it netted $44 million before expenses from Monday's sale.
Underwriter UBS Securities, which handled the offering, has an option for an overallotment of 225,000 shares.
James River operates mines in Kentucky and Indiana. Its stock fell $4.27, or 17 percent, to $20.34 Monday.
