NEW YORK - Shares of some top gold companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Quotes

ABX	27.05	6.45
GFI	7.3	1.97
GG	24.22	5.19
NEM	28.79	5.79

Barrick Gold rose $.62 or 1.7 percent, to $37.36.

Gold Fields rose $.10 or 1.0 percent, to $9.69.

Goldcorp rose $.57 or 1.8 percent, to $32.20.

Newmont Mining fell $.15 or .4 percent, to $38.61.
