Ifill is a moderator of "Washington Week" on PBS and a senior correspondent on "The NewsHour."
"The biggest pressure you have as a journalist ever is to make sure you get an answer to your question," said Ifill in an interview with the Associated Press. "That's what I'm focusing on how to ask questions that elicit answers instead of spin, or in this case to elicit engagement between the two."
Recently, Ifill was accused of showing frowning expressions after a speech by Palin at the August Republican convention.
"If you're frowning to think after a long night on your feet you're not even aware that your face is frowning to think. You're just thinking."
She added that she didn't look at recordings of her expression, according to AP.
"I know where my head was," she said. "So that's what counts."
In January, Ifill is set to release a book on "emerging young African American politicians" where she argues that the "Black political structure formed" during the civil rights movement is benefitting black politicians today.
The book is titled "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama."
