His body was discovered in a police locker room around 6:00 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his head, the New York Times reported.
On Sept. 24, Pigott ordered to fire a Taser stun gun at Iman Morales, an apparently mentally ill man who was naked and standing on a fire escape at his house in Brooklyn. The electric shot caused Morales to fall from the fire escape and landed on his head on the sidewalk and died of fatal injuries.
His mother was watching the scene and reportedly was the one that called 911 after her son became distraught and threatened that he was going to kill himself, witnesses said, according to the Associated Press.
A witness said Morales' mom shouted to the police "'No! No! Don't hurt him. He is sick,' " the New York Post reports.
Meanwhile, another Witness testified Iman Morales was yelling "You're going to kill me. I'm going to take everyone with me...I'm going to die. You're all going to die with me."
The police department announced that the use of the Taser had apparently violated departmental rules. On Wednesday, a day before he appeared dead- Officer Piggott said he was "truly sorry" when Morales family was holding a wake of the victim.
Pigott had served 21 years in the Police.
