Kent Whitaker, whose son is on death row for hiring a gunman to kill his entire family in order to claim an inheritance, is speaking out about his ordeal in a new book.
"Murder by Family" is the title of the book, was written after Whitaker followed the suggestion of a grief counselor.
Whitaker's son Bart Whitaker hired his roommate to carry out the deed. The gunman succeeded in killing Kent's son Kevin and wife Patricia. Kent survived.
Bart was sentenced to die last year, but his father has forgiven him. Kent still hopes that his son's life can be spared.
"I have a very strong faith that God is a good god," Whitaker told Houston television's KHOU.
