LONDON - Britain's largest union says more than 3,000 government computer jobs will be cut over the next two years.

The Public and Services Commercial Union says the cuts are a result of the takeover of Electronic Data Systems Corp. by Hewlett-Packard.
The union said Wednesday that EDS has contracts with government departments such as the Ministry of Defense and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Hewlett-Packard Co. said in September it would cut nearly 25,000 jobs over three years as it combined operations with EDS.
Hewlett-Packard did not immediately comment on the union report.
