The National Rifle Association is endorsing Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain despite its clashes with him in the past for his support of closing the gun show loophole and for his push on campaign finance reform.
The NRA's Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre and Political Victory Fund Chairman, Chris W. Cox are traveling to different cities including Pittsburgh, Pa., Springfield, Mo., Colorado Springs, Colo. and Reno, Nev. to express their support of McCain and his running mate, Aslaska's Gov. Sarah Palin.
"John McCain has more than two decades of pro-gun and pro-hunting votes in Congress. He has stood time and again to preserve our Second Amendment freedom and our rich hunting heritage," said LaPierre according to a released statement.
"Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have earned the NRA-PVF's endorsement and we will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4," he added.
Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has been endorsed by the American Hunters and Shooters Association, which is a "mainstream group of hunters" that supports responsible and safe gun ownership, according to it.
